Removing Cover For Front Backrest

Information 

The locking lugs can break off when removing the collar. Replace the collar during installation. The release lever can be re-used.

  1. Slide clothes hook -1-  up and remove it -arrow-  .

  2. Slide cover for backrest -1-  on the backrest shell -2-  at the bottom left and right, starting at the middle (-direction of arrow-  ) and disengage it.

  3. Press cover piping -1-  off the backrest frame -2-  all the way around. To do this, carefully open the retaining clips using a plastic wedge -3-  and pull out the cover piping.

  4. Remove side airbag. → REMOVING FRONT SIDE AIRBAG .
  5. Slightly loosen connection for backrest cover -1-  from frame for side airbag -2-  using a plastic wedge -3-  and pull it out by hand out the way around.

  6. Loosen cover for backrest from frame for control button for backrest release on both sides -arrows-  and pull it out.

  7. Press out cover for backrest -1-  at the cushion carrier -2-  at the bottom left and right using a plastic wedge -3-  (-arrow A-  ).

  8. Pull cover for backrest -1-  out of the rear cushion carrier -2-  by hand all the way around -arrows B-  . To do this, carefully lever out the piping at the bottom connection using a plastic wedge.
  9. Remove cover for backrest -1-  .

CAUTION: Risk of damage to backrest shell from fastening clamps.
  • Risk of surface damage (scratches).

→ Mask the backrest shell with adhesive tape.

→ Remove fastening clamps from the cover (joint).

  1. Mask the backrest shell -1-  in the marked area with adhesive tape -2-  (2-3 layers).

  2. Pull cover -1-  out of the fastening clamps -2-  close to the belt strap guide -arrow A-  .

    If the fastening clamps -2-  are also pulled off, remove them from the cover immediately -arrow B-  .

  3. Fit the removed fastening clamps -2-  on the backrest frame.
  4. Pull off the cover -1-  at the Velcro fasteners -2-  and -3-  (-arrows-  ).

  5. Fold over the cover -1-  , starting at the bottom -arrow A-  and carefully pull it out of the backrest shell -2-  (-arrow B-  ).

    If the fastening clamps -3-  are also pulled off, remove them from the cover immediately -arrow C-  .

  6. Fit the removed fastening clamps -3-  on the backrest frame.
  7. Remove cover -1-  and padding -2-  from the backrest shell -3-  (-arrows-  ).

    Information 

    Only when replacing the cover.

  8. Carefully detach Velcro strip -2-  on the cover from the Velcro fastener on the front of the padding -1-  (-arrow-  ).

  9. Remove cover -3-  .
