Removing Headliner

  1. Open sliding-roof panel fully.
  2. Move driver's and passenger's seat backrest back as far as it will go.
  3. Pull rubber door seal -1-  out of the body close to the headliner -arrows-  .

  4. Remove sun visor holder.

    1. 4.1. Open cover for sun visor holder -arrow-  .
    2. 4.2. Unscrew fastening screw securing sun visor holder -arrow-  .

  5. Unscrew fastening screws close to the roof console -arrows-  .

  6. Detach the headliner close to the sliding-roof aperture (only on vehicles with a sunroof)  .
    1. 6.1. Unscrew fastening screws at the front -arrows-  .

    2. 6.2. Unclip headliner from the fastening clips close to the covering frame -arrow-  .

    3. 6.3. Check fastening clips on the headliner for deformation and replace them if necessary.

      Information 

      To reduce the unclipping forces and thereby the risk of damage during removal, the removal steps must be carried out at the accessible connection points using a suitable tool.

  7. Unclip fastening parts of the headliner at the rear using the removal tool Nr.21  (-arrows-  ).

    1. 7.1. Check fixing clips on the headliner for deformation and replace them if necessary.

      Information 

      Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

  8. Remove headliner.
    1. 8.1. Two people are needed in order to remove the headliner.
      1. 8.1.1. Position of first person: Driver's door
      2. 8.1.2. Position of second person: Passenger's door
    2. 8.2. Place front of headliner on the center console.

    3. 8.3. Turn the headliner clockwise -arrows-  .

    4. 8.4. Remove the headliner completely through the passenger side -arrow-  .
