Removing A-Pillar

Information 

Drill out spotwelds B  through one plate thickness.

1. Grind down welded seams -A-  on the door hinges.
   1. 1.1. Remove door hinges.

2. Remove supporting plate for longitudinal member for wheel housing.

   Information 

   Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

   1. 2.1. Drill out spotwelds. Spotweld drill Nr.129 Pneumatic spotweld remover, Vario Drill WS 90 WE 1139

3. Heat bonding areas on supporting plate for longitudinal member for wheel housing.
   1. 3.1. Remove supporting plate for longitudinal member for wheel housing.

      Information 

      Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

4. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
   1. 4.1. Grind down welded seams in area -A-  .

      Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

   2. 4.2. Drill out spotwelds -B-  using spotweld drill  .
   3. 4.3. Drill through spotwelds -C-  using spotweld drill  .

5. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill  .
   1. 5.1. Grind down welded seam -A-  .

      Information 

      Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

6. Drill through spotwelds -A-  on upper part of roof frame.

   Information 

   Drill out the connection point on one side only. Do not damage the plate underneath.

   1. 6.1. Drill out spotwelds -B-  on upper part of roof frame.
   2. 6.2. Make a small gap in area -arrows-  .

7. Heat the bonding surfaces.
   1. 7.1. Remove A-pillar.
