Preparing A-Pillar For Installation

Information 

Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

Information 

Drill out spotwelds B  through one plate thickness.

  1. Fit in new part and secure it to the body. Check gap dimensions. → WM 5X00IN GAP DIMENSIONS (EXCEPT CARRERA "EDITION", CARRERA CABRIOLET "EDITION", CARRERA 4 "EDITION", TARGA 4, TARGA 4S, TARGA 4 GTS, CARRERA 4 CABRIOLET "EDITION") .
    1. 1.1. Drill holes -A-  for rivets using a twist drill Nr.201  (diameter: 6.6 mm).
    2. 1.2. Drill holes -B-  for plug-welding using inert gas using a twist drill Nr.201  (diameter: 8.0 mm).

  2. Prepare the marked connection areas for bonding and welding.

    Green Bonding + resistance spot-welding
    Red Plug-welding/apply a full weld using inert gas without bonding
    Orange Bonding + riveting
