Removing Wire Harness For Engine

Information 

• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. 
• Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well.

Bottom of engine: 

1. Release and unplug electric plug connections on the six bar ignition modules. → 282020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING IGNITION COILS
2. Unscrew ground straps for the bar ignition modules for cylinder 1-6 -1-  .

3. Release electric plug connections -2-  at the solenoid hydraulic valves for valve lift adjustment at the left and right -a-  and pull them off -A-  .
4. Release electric plug connections -3-  on the hall senders at the left and right -b-  and pull them off -B-  .
5. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the high-pressure pump -a-  and pull it off -A-  .

6. Release electric plug connection -2-  at the coolant regulator -b-  and pull it off -B-  .
7. Unclip electric lines for the high-pressure pump and coolant regulator from the brackets -3-  and pull them through in an upward direction.
8. Release electric plug connection -4-  on the oil regulating valve -a-  and pull it off -A-  .
9. Unclip electric lines from the brackets -1-  .

10. Release electric plug connection on the oil level sensor -a-  and pull it off -A-  .
11. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the crankshaft pulse sender -a-  and pull it off -A-  .

12. Pull electric lines for the oil level sensor and crankshaft pulse sender through in an upward direction.

    Top of engine: 

13. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the oil pressure sender -a-  and pull it off -A-  .

14. Release electric plug connection -2-  on the fuel pressure sensor -b-  and pull it off -B-  .
15. Unclip cable ducts -3-  at the fuel distributor pipes -C-  .
16. Release and unplug electric plug connections on the six injectors. → 243019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FUEL COLLECTION PIPE WITH FUEL INJECTORS
17. Release and unplug electric plug connections on both knock sensors. → 287219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING KNOCK SENSOR
18. Release electric plug connections -1-  on the solenoid hydraulic valves for camshaft control at the left and right -a-  and pull them off -A-  .

19. Unclip electric line -2-  from the bracket -3-  .
20. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the coolant temperature sensor -a-  and pull it off -A-  .

21. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the air-conditioning compressor (-a-  ) and pull it off the holder -2-  (-A-  ).

22. Unclip protective cover -1-  on the starter.

23. Remove electric line -2-  on the starter.
24. Unclip electric line -2-  from the bracket -3-  (-A-  ).
25. Release electric lines -1-  on the change-over valves -2-  (-a-  ) and pull them off -A-  .

26. Pull vacuum lines off the change-over valves -2-  (-B-  ).
27. Unclip change-over valves -2-  at the cable duct -3-  and pull them off -C-  .
28. Unscrew fastening screws on the cable ducts -3-  .
29. Disconnect cable ducts -3-  from the cylinder heads.
30. Release electric plug connection -1-  (-a-  ) and pull it off -A-  .

31. Release electric plug connection -2-  (-b-  ) and pull it off -B-  .
32. Release electric plug connection -3-  (-c-  ) and pull it off -C-  .
33. Remove wire harness.
