Loosening Main Wire Harness In Passenger Compartment At The Right

  1. Plug connection for power distributor
  2. Plug connection for additional amplifier for loudspeaker
  3. Plug connections for door connection point (2 connectors)
  4. Plug connections for wire harness for dashboard (2 connectors)
  5. Plug connections for antenna control unit (3 connectors)
  6. Cable shoe for power distributor (8 cable shoes)
  7. Plug connection for airbag sensor on side member
  8. Plug connections for amplifier (2 connectors)
  9. Plug connections for seat (2 connectors)
  10. Plug connections for front three-point seat belt (2 connectors)
  11. Plug connection for KESSY antenna
  12. Plug connections for loudspeakers (2 connectors)
  13. Plug connections for main wire harness at the left (3 connectors)
NOTE: Incorrect handling of main wire harness
  • Risk of damage to lines

→ The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

→ The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

→ If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

  1. Disconnect ground straps.

    1. 1.1. Unscrew fastening nut -1-  and remove ground straps.
  2. Disconnect plug connection on the power distributor and release power supply lines. → 978919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING POWER DISTRIBUTOR 
  3. Disconnect plug connection from additional amplifier for loudspeakers and unclip cable clip. → 914419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ADDITIONAL AMPLIFIER FOR LOUDSPEAKERS
  4. Disconnect plug connection for dashboard at connection point on right A-pillar.

    1. 4.1. Release plug connections at the left fuse box -a-  and remove them -B-  .
    2. 4.2. Release plug connections for the dashboard wire harness -A-  and pull them off -C-  .
  5. Loosen fuse box at the right.

    1. 5.1. Unscrew fastening nut -1-  .
    2. 5.2. Remove fuse box at the right -arrow-  .
    3. 5.3. Set the fuse box aside.
  6. Disconnect plug connections for antenna control unit. → 918619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ANTENNA CONTROL UNIT
  7. Disconnect plug connections on loudspeaker amplifier. → 914419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING LOUDSPEAKER AMPLIFIER

    For NAR vehicles 

  8. Disconnect plug connections for front three-point belt at the right and unclip line clips. → 691119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT THREE-POINT BELT
  9. Disconnect sub-part for rear right wheel housing (TPM). → 970955 REPLACING SUB-PART FOR REAR LEFT WHEEL HOUSING (TPM)  )
  10. Take relay carrier at the rear right out of the foam molded part and set it aside. → 9790IN LOOSENING AND SECURING RELAY CARRIER 
  11. Loosen electric line for PASM spring strut.

    1. 11.1. Carefully disconnect electric line from the PASM spring strut at the connector -A-  and unclip it from the bracket -B-  on the main wire harness.
  12. Release plug connections for main wire harness at the left -a-  and pull them off -B-  .

  13. Release the wire harness mounting.
    1. 13.1. Remove rubber sleeve for the engine compartment from the body aperture.
    2. 13.2. Unclip the cable duct -1-  at the fastening points -2-  .

    3. 13.3. Unclip fixing clips -3-  for wire harness at the rear wheel arch.
    4. 13.4. Cut the cable straps -1-  and unclip cable clip -2-  .

    5. 13.5. Unclip cable straps -3-  on the floorpan in the A-pillar area.
    6. 13.6. Unclip fixing clips -1-  on the A-pillar.

      Check the fixing clips for damage and replace them if necessary.
