Removing Rear Window

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Always shut off power supply when replacing cutting knife.

1. Open the rear lid.

   Information 

   • The fastening force can be increased by moistening the fastening intake. 
2. Affix suction cups to the outside of the rear window.
3. Unwrap the cutting thread (round thread) from the reel by approx. 6 turns (6 m) and cut using side cutters.

   Information 

   • The cutting thread must be positioned under the rim. 
4. Guide the cutting thread into the gap in the glass.

   1. 4.1. Wet the rear window seal -1-  all the way around with soapy water.
   2. 4.2. Pull the cutting thread -2-  all the way through the gap between the rear window and body -arrows-  .
   3. 4.3. Attach the free end of the cutting thread to the lid hinge.
5. Guide the cutting thread inward.
   1. 5.1. Use the scratch awl -1-  to apply a bead of adhesive from the inside out -arrow A-  .
   2. 5.2. Thread the cutting thread -2-  into the scratch awl and insert it into the interior of the vehicle -arrow B-  .
   3. 5.3. Allow approx. 1 m of cutting thread to hang into the interior of the vehicle.

      Information 

      • In order to guarantee optimum suction cup grip, it is advisable to clean the inside of the glass before removal. 
6. Remove rear window using the glass removal kit.
   1. 6.1. Insert the cutting thread -1-  into the bore on the spooling device -2-  .
   2. 6.2. Position the spooling device -2-  in the center of the glass and press the suction cups firmly against the rear window -3-  .
   3. 6.3. Secure the suction cups to the rear window using the actuating lever.
   4. 6.4. Remove the rear window by winding the cutting thread onto the spooling device in -direction of arrow-  .

      Re-position the spooling device to reduce the tensile force of the cutting thread when removing the glass.

7. Remove rear window.
