Installing Crankshaft

Information

Information 

  1. Oil the bearing shells before fitting them into the guide frame and cylinder block.

    Insert twist locks and retaining lugs of the bearing shells into the cut-outs. Check that the twist locks are positioned correctly.

  2. Insert dowel sleeves -1 to 4-  into the guide frame.

    CAUTION: Heavy components
    • Risk of squashing

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    → Get someone to help if necessary.

  3. Carefully insert the crankshaft into the cylinder block with the help of an assistant.

    Check again that the bearing shells and thrust washers are positioned correctly (they can slip out of place easily). Oil crankshaft journals.

  4. Insert the guide frame into the cylinder block.
  5. Tighten fastening screws on the guide frame in the specified sequence.

  6. Install connecting-rod bearing caps and bearing shells. → Installing Pistons
