Installing Lock Carrier

NOTE: Different tightening torque for screwing self-tapping screws into a new or existing, old thread.
  • Incorrectly screwed joints
  • Risk of damage to screw thread

→ Observe different tightening torques.

→ When screwing into an already shaped, old thread, first screw in screws several turns by hand, then screw in completely using a tool.

  1. Fit lock carrier.
  2. Install front bumper.
    1. 2.1. Fit the bumper.
    2. 2.2. Fit horn and holder -13-  .

    3. 2.3. Screw in fastening screws -11, 12-  and tighten slightly.
    4. 2.4. Adjust height -X-  of lock carrier on the wing Adjustment value 100 mm  as required.

    5. 2.5. Screw in fastening screws -11-  and tighten to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) +5 Nm (+3.5 ftlb.) -7.5 Nm (-5.5 ftlb.)  until secure.
    6. 2.6. Tighten fastening screws -11-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) +5 Nm (+3.5 ftlb.) -7.5 Nm (- 5.5 ftlb.)  until secure.
    7. 2.7. Screw in fastening screws -12-  and tighten to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 13 Nm +1 Nm (+0.5 ftlb.) -1.5 Nm (-1 ftlb.)  ↓for a new lock carrier or Tightening torque 9.7 Nm +/-0.5 Nm (+/- 0.5 ftlb.)  when re-using old screws.

  3. Screw in fastening screws at the top -4-  and tighten to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 5.5 Nm (4 ftlb.) +/- 0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)  until secure.

  4. Securing charge-air cooler (Turbo)

    1. 4.1. Position charge-air cooler.
    2. 4.2. Tighten fastening screws -5-  to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 6.5 Nm +/-0.5 Nm (+/- 0.5 ftlb.)  until secure.
  5. Secure radiator module -7-  to the lock carrier -1-  .

    1. 5.1. Remove tie-wrap at the fixing point.
    2. 5.2. Position radiator module.
    3. 5.3. Screw in fastening screws -6-  and tighten to the specified tightening torque Tightening torque 13 Nm +1 Nm (+0.5 ftlb.) -2 Nm (-1.5 ftlb.)  for a new lock carrier or Tightening torque 6.5 Nm +/-0.5 Nm (+/- 0.5 ftlb.)  when re-using old screws.

      Engage operating cable at the lid lock, → INSTALLING RELEASE FOR FRONT LID

  6. Perform a function test.
    1. 6.1. Engage hook using a screwdriver.
    2. 6.2. Release the lid lock by actuating the inner opener.
