Installing Front Brake Calliper

NOTE:

Do not bend the brake lines.

Secure brake line holders at the wheel carrier .
For easier access to the holders, turn in the wheel carrier as required .

WARNING: Old mounting parts fitted on the brake calliper

Reduced braking effect
Risk of damage to the brake calliper

→ Fit new pad retaining springs

NOTE:

Never use an impact bolter to loosen and tighten the brake calliper on the wheel carrier .
Carry out a visual inspection on the thread for the brake calliper and blow it out carefully if necessary using compressed air. Use goggles!
Replace screws for securing the brake calliper .

Check that all parts are in perfect condition (visual inspection) and replace them if necessary.
Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
Tightening torques:

Brake calliper to wheel bearing housing (17-inch - black): Tightening torque 196 Nm (145 ftlb.)

Brake calliper to wheel bearing housing (18-inch - red/silver): Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) Final tightening + 90°

Brake calliper to wheel bearing housing (PCCB): Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.) Final tightening +90°

Brake line to brake calliper (grey cast iron): Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

Brake line to brake calliper (PCCB): Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.5 ftlb.)

Holder to wheel bearing housing: Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

To make it easier to install the brake calliper, assembly pins T10439 → Assembly pin for brake calliper can be used (not for 17-inch brake calliper) .

Assembly pin for brake calliper
- Carefully fit the brake calliper and screw in assembly pin only in the top thread by hand (this protects the thread!).

- Screw in bottom brake calliper screws several turns by hand (this protects the thread!).
- Remove assembly pin and screw in top brake calliper screw several turns by hand (this protects the thread!).
- Screw in both brake calliper screws fully and tighten to the specified tightening torque.
WARNING:
Improper handling of fluid-carrying lines
- Escaping fluid
- System malfunction
- Risk of escaping fluid catching fire
→ Do not kink, crush or twist the line

→ Avoid torsion and shearing

→ Fit the line carefully
Check line routing of brake hose -1- .
When doing this, check that the brake hose -1- (as shown) is at its original position in the grommet -2- and is not touching the spring strut.
