Installing Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)

WARNING: Danger of objects or loads falling down

Risk of squashing or crushing

→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

WARNING: Working with ATF

Possible danger of injury or damage (e.g. swollen hoses, skin irritation, danger of slipping, etc.)

→ Before lines are opened, place a cloth underneath them!

→ Components that come into contact with ATF must be cleaned IMMEDIATELY with water!

→ Take appropriate protective measures (protective clothing, safety goggles, oil binding material)

→ Collect emerging ATF!

CAUTION: Heavy components

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Get someone to help if necessary.

NOTE:

Tightening torques, tightening sequence and assembly overviews for the engine and transmission:

Position transmission.
Position the starter.
Fit and tighten fastening screws -1, 2, 7 and 10- .
1. 3.1. Tighten fastening screws -1, 2, 7 and 10- hand-tight.
2. 3.2. Tighten fastening screw -1- .
  Tool recommendation: 3/4" flexible-head socket a/f 16.
3. 3.3. Tighten fastening screws -2 and 7- .

  Mounting point for transmission on engine
Fit and tighten fastening screws -1 and 3- on the gear support -2- .

Gear support
Secure dual-mass flywheel on the drive plate.
1. 5.1. Counter the crankshaft using adapter T40058 .
2. 5.2. Fit and tighten fastening screws -arrow- .
3. 5.3. For the next screw, use adapter T40058 to turn the crankshaft a further 60° in direction of rotation of engine .
  
  Dual-mass flywheel
Fit cover -1- on the underside of the transmission.

Cover on drive plate
Fit and tighten fastening screws -8 and 9- .
Step 1:

Mounting point for transmission on engine
Secure wiring harness on the transmission.

Engine wire harness on transmission
Secure ATF lines -1- and -2- .

ATF line on ATF spin-on filter housing
Secure universal joint to the steering gear.
1. 10.1. Fit universal joint on the steering gear.
2. 10.2. Fit and tighten new fastening screw -arrow- . Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

Position heat shield and fit and tighten fastening screws -1 and 2- .

Heat shield on front-axle carrier
Heat shields for drive shaft.
1. 12.1. Move right drive shaft into installation position.
2. 12.2. Position both heat shields on the right drive shaft and fit and tighten fastening screws -arrows- .

Fit and tighten fastening screws -3...6- .
Step 1: Initial tightening 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

Step 2: Final tightening +105° +/-30°

Mounting point for transmission on engine
Secure locking cable -1- on the transmission.
1. 14.1. Secure support -3- to the transmission with fastening screws -arrows- .
2. 14.2. Secure the locking cable to the ball socket -2- .
