Removing rear drive shaft

Information 

Drive shafts must not be left hanging from the joint stop! Hold the drive shaft or tie it up if necessary.

  1. Tilt wheel bearing housing -1-  down slightly. A second mechanic must guide the drive shaft -2-  carefully out of the wheel bearing housing.

  2. Lever out the drive shaft -1-  using a suitable tool (e.g using 2 mounting levers) and carefully remove it from the rear-axle transmission housing.
    IMPORTANT: Hold the drive shaft! In the event of unfavorable tolerances, the drive shaft might slip out.
