Description And Operation: Overview

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover, 2017 Land Rover Range Rover, 2016 Land Rover Range Rover, 2015 Land Rover Range Rover, and 2014 Land Rover Range Rover. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The V6 3.0L Supercharged (S/C) Petrol Low Pressure (LP) fuel system is designed to supply fuel to the High Pressure (HP) fuel pumps, mounted on the engine.

The fuel system uses an electronically controlled return less fuel system. This will allow the LP fuel pump in the fuel tank to deliver fuel to the HP fuel pumps, dependant on engine demand. The in-tank LP fuel pump's pressure and flow is varied by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM varies the pressure and flow with increased system pressure up to 7.3 bar (105.9 lnf/in2 ) absolute at high temperature and matches the flow in support of engine fueling requirements.

The fuel pump operation is regulated by a Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) which is controlled by the PCM. The driver module regulates the flow and pressure supplied by controlling the operation of the fuel pump using a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) output.

NAS market vehicles are fitted with a Flex Fuel Sensor (FFS) which measures the ethanol to gasoline ratio of the fuel. Flexible fuel vehicles can be operated with a blend of ethanol and gasoline, up to 100 percent ethanol.
