Removing Transmission Oil Cooler

CAUTION:
Hot components
- Risk of burns
→ Let hot components cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Remove transverse strut -1-
and open retaining clips for the coolant lines.
- 1.1. Unscrew two hexagon-head bolts (M10 x 40) -2- and remove transverse strut.
- 1.2. Open three retaining clips -3- on the coolant lines.
- Pull cable plug -1-
off the control valve -3-

- 2.1. Release and pull off cable plug and unclip the control valve.
- Disengage coolant lines -1- and tie them at the side.
- Release coolant hoses at the oil cooler bracket.
- 4.1. Clamp off coolant hose at the left oil cooler bracket -1- using special tool Hose Clamp 3093 -2- .
- 4.2. Clamp off coolant hose at the right oil cooler bracket -1-
using special tool Hose Clamping Pliers Nr. 192 -2-

WARNING: Hot fluid- Danger of scalding
→ Avoid contact with hot fluid.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Place a suitable container under the vehicle to collect the oil/coolant mixture.
- Remove transmission oil cooler -1-
.
- 6.1. Unscrew one hexagon socket head bolt (M6 x 55) -2- on the transmission oil cooler.
- 6.2. Unscrew three internal Torx screws (M6 x 16) -3- on the transmission oil cooler.
- 6.3. Remove transmission oil cooler.
- 6.4. Collect emerging coolant and transmission oil.
- Replace O-rings -1-
on the oil cooler bracket.
- 7.1. Carefully clean the sealing surface.
