Removing Transmission Oil Cooler

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2013 Porsche 911, 2012 Porsche 911, 2011 Porsche 911, 2010 Porsche 911, and 2009 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove transverse strut.

    Unscrew two screws -A-  and remove the transverse strut.

  2. Disconnect electric connections on transmission oil cooler.

    Pull off connector -B-  and remove electric cable from the work area.

  3. Disengage coolant line for the heating supply and return lines.

    Disengage the coolant line for the heating supply and return lines from the plastic clips -A-  and pull the line over the brackets on the underbody panel -B-  towards the rear.

  4. Pinch off coolant line.

    Pinch off the coolant line by clamping it using special tool Hose Clamp VW 3093 -A-  .

  5. Disconnect transmission oil line.

    Screw off the transmission oil line -A-  between the oil cooler and transmission at the transmission oil cooler.

  6. Pinch off coolant line.

    Pinch off the coolant line by clamping it using special tool Hose Clamp VW 3093 -B-  .

  7. Drain coolant-oil mixture.
    WARNING: Hot fluid
    • Danger of scalding

    → Avoid contact with hot fluid.

    → Wear personal protective gear.

    Place a suitable container under the vehicle to collect the coolant-oil mixture from the transmission oil cooler.

  8. Disconnect coolant hose.

    Loosen spring band clamp -A-  and pull off coolant hose.

  9. Remove transmission oil cooler.
    1. 9.1. Unscrew holder screws -A-  and hexagon socket head bolt -B-  and pull out transmission oil cooler with bracket.
      WARNING: Hot fluid
      • Danger of scalding

      → Avoid contact with hot fluid.

      → Wear personal protective gear.

    2. 9.2. Undo screws between transmission oil cooler and cooler bracket and remove transmission oil cooler.
