Installing rear wheel bearing housing
- Risk of crushing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
- All screws and threaded joints on the axle must be tightened in vehicle position. Vehicle position means: vehicle standing on its wheels or the wheel suspension is raised with a universal vehicle lift. Dimension -1 , from lower edge of wing to center of axle corresponds to vehicle position. The current height values can be found in
→ 4495TW ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT .
Pay particular attention to the following points!
- Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased .
- If the wheel bearing housing was replaced, perform the following tasks:
- 1.1. Clamp the wheel bearing housing in a vice with aluminum protective jaws.
- 1.2. Insert wheel bearing unit into the wheel bearing housing and tighten fastening screws.
- 1.2.1. Always observe the specified tightening sequence -1 - 4-
!
Observe specified tightening torques:
Wheel bearing unit to wheel bearing housing: Initial tightening 80 Nm (59 ft. lb.) Final tightening +90°
Information
- Grease the part of the speed sensor located in the wheel bearing housing. .
- The bore for mounting the speed sensor must be free of dirt .
- Observe specified tightening torques .
- 1.2.1. Always observe the specified tightening sequence -1 - 4-
!
- 1.3. Insert speed sensor -2-
and tighten fastening screw -1-. Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ft. lb.)
- 1.4. Position cover plate for brake disc -2- and tighten fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lb.)
- Installation is performed in reverse order.
Observe specified tightening torques:
Information
