Installing Drive Belt

CAUTION:
Drive belt removed incorrectly
- Risk of damage to drive belt
→ Only remove the drive belt when it is cold.
→ Replace damaged drive belt.
CAUTION:
Drive belt breaks and becomes jammed
- Risk of damage to components (trim panels, electric cables, etc.)
- Leaks at the crankshaft vibration damper sealing ring
- Vibration damper can overheat and lose its strength
→ Following belt breakage, check adjacent components and the interior of the engine compartment for damage. Repair or replace damaged parts.
→ Find out why the belt broke. Check deflection rollers or crankshaft vibration dampers for prior damage.
→ If the drive belt is jammed, replace the vibration damper.
WARNING:
Rotating components
- Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
→ Disconnect power supply to the drive motor of components or to the battery.
- Fit the drive belt. → Routing diagram CAUTION:
- Danger of irreparable damage if a previously used drive belt is set to move in the opposite rolling direction.
Before removing the drive belt, mark the rolling direction for re-installation with chalk or a felt-tipped pen.
If re-using a drive belt, check the rolling direction marking.

- Belt tensioner
- Generator
- Air-conditioning compressor
Routing diagram
- Tension the drive belt.
- 2.1. Turn the belt tensioner in -direction of arrow- and pull out locking pin T10060 A .
- 2.2. Relieve the belt tensioner.
- 2.3. Check that the drive belt is fitted correctly.
Installing drive belt
- Start the engine and check that the drive belt runs correctly.
