Removing Turbocharger

NOTE:

Replace gaskets, sealing rings and O-rings.
Hose adapters and hoses for the charge air system must be free of oil and grease before being fitted.
Secure all hose connections with standard hose clamps.
To fasten the charge air hoses securely to their adapters, spray the threaded parts of previously used screw-type clamps with anti-rust agent before installation.
Refit all heat protection boots at the same position during installation.
Leave the engine running at idle speed for about 1 minute and avoid revving the engine after installing the turbocharger to ensure an adequate oil supply for the turbocharger.

NOTE:

Do not damage O-rings!

Open cap on reservoir.
Loosen spring band clamp -arrow- , pull off moulded hose on the turbocharger and swivel it aside.
Loosen fastening screw -1- on support for turbocharger -2- .
Disconnect oil return line on the turbocharger.
1. 4.1. Unscrew fastening screw -1- .
2. 4.2. Pull off oil line at the engine and close off connections.
3. 4.3. Unscrew fastening screw -2- on turbocharger support.

Take electric plug connection -1- out of the holder and disconnect it.

Unscrew fastening screw -arrow- for positive crankcase ventilation at the turbocharger and pull off the line.

Disconnect electric plug connection -1- for recirculating air valve.

Unscrew fastening screws -arrows- and remove heat shield.

Loosen accessories from the turbocharger.
1. 9.1. Unscrew fastening screw -1- and pull off coolant return pipe.
  Tool recommendation: Special inserts Nr.170
2. 9.2. Unscrew fastening screw -2- and pull off oil feed line for turbocharger.
  Tool recommendation: Special inserts Nr.170
3. 9.3. Disconnect electric plug connection -3- at the electronic adjuster for the turbocharger.
4. 9.4. Unscrew fastening nuts -arrows- .
  
  Accessories on turbocharger
Remove turbocharger.
1. 10.1. Pull turbocharger off the studs in -direction of arrow- and get a second mechanic to hold it.
2. 10.2. Unscrew fastening screw -1- and pull off coolant supply pipe -2- .
3. 10.3. Close off open lines and connections using stoppers.
4. 10.4. Lift the turbocharger up and out.
