Removing Vibration Damper

  1. Remove heat shield on the engine carrier.
    1. 1.1. Unscrew three external Torx screws (M6 x 12) and remove heat shield.
  2. Position vibration damper -1-  for removal.
    1. 2.1. Turn the vibration damper clockwise using special tool turning device 9773 -3-  until one staking bore is flush with the bore in the crankcase.
    2. 2.2. Stake the vibration damper using one of the locating pins 9595/1 -4-  .

  3. Unscrew fastening screw -10-  and remove dowel sleeve -11-  .

  4. Remove vibration damper.
    1. 4.1. Unscrew six external Torx screws (M8 x 1 x 25) -2-  and carefully guide the vibration damper out through the engine carrier.
    2. 4.2. Check the vibration damper and dowel pin for damage (e.g. cracks, deformation) and replace components if necessary.
    3. 4.3. Replace screws.
