Replacing Wheel Bearing Housing

  1. Use puller set Nr.87-1 Pos.1  to press the drive shaft out of the wheel hub. → Pressing in drive shaft

  2. Grease the splines with a little Optimoly TA aluminum paste and fit the drive shaft into the new wheel bearing housing. When doing this, press the inner joint together fully.
  3. Screw on the axle nut to prevent the shaft from slipping out.
  4. Tighten drive shaft.
    1. 4.1. Tighten the drive shaft to setting 1 "before installation" to Tightening torque 130 Nm (96 ftlb.)  . To do this, place the wheel carrier with the drive shaft and countering tool (shop-made) on the floor (do not damage the brake cover plate) and tighten the drive shaft. 2. second mechanic is required! → Tightening drive shaft 
    2. 4.2. The second tightening setting is applied when the wheel bearing housing is installed! Tightening torque 460 Nm (340 ftlb.)
