Installing Wheel Bearing
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2016 Porsche Panamera, 2015 Porsche Panamera, 2014 Porsche Panamera, 2013 Porsche Panamera, and 2012 Porsche Panamera. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Heat the wheel bearing housing to about 80 °C using a heating plate → Heating wheel bearing housing
.
Tool for pressing in wheel bearing.
- Screw the large ram into the workshop press (see section entitled TOOLS AND MATERIALS , Tool overview for wheel bearing, item 7).
- Position pipe T10230/9 -3-
under the workshop press and fit the wheel bearing housing flat on top. Insert the wheel bearing straight and at the correct position.
Information
- The wheel bearing must not come into contact with magnetic objects (e.g. magnetic screwdriver, magnet).
- Screws and nuts are Geomet-coated and must not be greased.
- Grease the splines of the drive shaft with a light coating of aluminum paste Optimoly TA.
- Drive shafts must not be left hanging from the joint stop! Tie them up.
At the correct position means The multiple-pole ring must point towards the inside of the vehicle. Check the magnetization = correct installation (e.g. with a paper clip).
- Position the pressure piece T10205/10 -2- flush onto the wheel bearing and position the ram against it -1-
- Carefully press in the wheel bearing as far as it will go (check pressure gauge: a rapid increase in pressure indicates that the wheel bearing is in installation position.) → Pressing in wheel bearing
.
