Removing Frame For Sliding Roof

→ Wear personal protective gear.

  1. Disconnect electric plug connections.
    1. 1.1. Release electric plug connections -1-  and pull them off -arrow-  .

  2. Loosen fastening nuts.
    1. 2.1. Unscrew fastening nuts -1-  on the roof assembly at the front and rear.

  3. Prepare front cover for removal.

    Information 

    Cover adjacent areas.

    • Cover accessories adjacent to the repair area on the vehicle. 
    • Cover any accessories remaining on the vehicle. 
    1. 3.1. Mark holes at the left and right.

      Windshield to front roof cover (D) Length 40 mm 

      Roof pillar to front roof cover (E) Length 45 mm 

      Sliding roof opening in front roof cover (A) Length 40 mm 

      Front roof cover, center axis/right (B) Length 300 mm 

      Front roof cover, center axis/left (C) Length 100 mm

      Drill holes at the left and right using spotweld cutter Spotweld Cutter Nr. 128-2  .

    2. 3.2. Cut slits parallel to the edge of the cover -1- Electric Panel Shears WE 1478  .

  4. Prepare rear cover for removal.

    Information 

    Cover adjacent areas.

    • Cover accessories adjacent to the repair area on the vehicle. 
    • Cover any accessories remaining on the vehicle. 
    1. 4.1. Mark holes at the left and right.

      Roof pillar to rear roof cover (B) Length 45 mm 

      Rear window to rear roof cover (A) Length 30 mm

    2. 4.2. Drill holes at the left and right using spotweld cutter Spotweld Cutter Nr. 128-2  .
    3. 4.3. Cut a slit parallel to the edge of the cover -1- Electric Panel Shears WE 1478  .

  5. Cut through beads of adhesive.

    Information 

    Cover adjacent areas.

    • Cover accessories adjacent to the repair area on the vehicle. 
    • Cover any accessories remaining on the vehicle. 
    1. 5.1. Cut through beads of adhesive on the front and rear covers -1-  using Special electric cutter - Fine Special Electric Cutter - Fine WE 1137  complete with blade 207 (VAG 1561/22).

  6. Cut through inner bead of adhesive.

    Information 

    Cover adjacent areas.

    • Cover accessories adjacent to the repair area on the vehicle. 
    • Cover any accessories remaining on the vehicle. 
    1. 6.1. Cut through inner bead of adhesive all around the roof assembly -1-  using Special electric cutter - Fine Special Electric Cutter - Fine WE 1137  .

  7. Get another person to help you to remove the roof assembly.
