Installing Spring Strut
- PASM (damping force adjustment) does not function
- Risk of damage to electric lines
→ Protect electric lines when removing and installing the spring strut.
→ Do not lift/transport the spring strut/vibration damper at the electric lines.
→ Do not damage electric lines when transporting, unpacking, storing or disassembling and assembling the spring strut.
Installation is in reverse order. Before installing, check the various parts carefully. Replace lock nuts.
Do not grease threaded connections in Dacromet finish - aluminum color. Observe correct tightening torques.
- Insert spring strut into the vehicle from above (over the upper trailing arms).
- Fit M10 lock nuts (three nuts) -arrows-
onto the spring strut supporting mount (in the vehicle interior). Tightening torque: 46 Nm (34 ftlb.).
Carry out a test drive and then retighten the lock nuts to the same torque on vehicles with a roll-over bar (e.g. 911 GT3/GT3 RS).
- Vehicles with PASM: Connect electric line for the PASM spring strut (connector must engage) and clip it into the bracket.
- Fit spring strut to wheel carrier. Tightening torque of fastening screw -3- = 110 Nm (81 ftlb.).
- Fit toe control arm to wheel carrier -2- . Tightening torque of lock nut = 75 Nm (56 ftlb.).
- Install anti-roll bar together with the suspension/stabilisers.
Observe the anti-roll-bar setting (position of suspension/stabilizer on anti-roll bar) on the 911 GT3/GT3 RS!
→ 4400TW ADJUSTMENT VALUES FOR SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT .
Tightening torque: Anti-roll bar to rear-axle side section (four M8 screws) = 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).
Suspension/stabilizer to wheel carriers -1- = 65 Nm (48 ftlb.). Important: Tighten in three steps (step 1: tighten to 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)/step 2: loosen by 90°/step 3: tighten to 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)).
