Installing Wire Harness For Engine

  1. First lay the wire harness loosely on the engine.

    Check that the wire harness is positioned correctly: The vehicle/engine connection point as well as the plug connection for the DME control unit are in the rear of the engine compartment, on the right in direction of travel.

  2. When laying the wire harness, make sure that the individual wire harnesses do not become twisted or entangled.
  3. Loosely screw in fastening screws for the cable ducts in the cylinder heads.
  4. Plug in electric plug connections and clip the individual wire harnesses in place.

    When doing so, proceed in reverse order to removal:

    1. 4.1. Insert plug connections for top of engine  .
    2. 4.2. Plug in plug connections for bottom of engine  .
  5. Tighten fastening screws for the cable ducts.

    → Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) 

  6. Tighten fastening nut used to secure electric line to the starter.

    → Tightening torque: 6.5 Nm (5 ftlb.) 

  7. Tighten fastening screws for the ground straps.

    → Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
