Removing Transmission

  1. Release electric plug connection -1-  on the crankshaft hall sender -2-  and disconnect it.

  2. Loosen both drive shafts -2-  on the transmission side at the left and right. → 422119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE SHAFT
    1. 2.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the drive shaft and counter using Adapter Plate 9510/1  .

      Information 

      • Protect the drive shafts from mechanical damage  .
    2. 2.2. Lift off drive shaft -2-  on the halfshaft flange and set it aside.

  3. Loosen coolant hoses -3-  .
    1. 3.1. Unclip fixing clip -1-  on the vacuum line.
    2. 3.2. Release locks -2-  on the coolant hoses -3-  (-arrows-  ).
    3. 3.3. Place a container under the vehicle to collect coolant.
    4. 3.4. Pull out coolant hoses -3-  at the connection points.

  4. Remove transverse strut -2-  .
    1. 4.1. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1-  .
    2. 4.2. Remove transverse strut -2-  .

  5. Secure the engine and transmission -2-  .
    1. 5.1. Fix retainer plate in place on the unit elevating platform -1-  .
    2. 5.2. Position the unit elevating platform -1-  under the engine and support the engine.
    3. 5.3. Use a restraining strap -4-  to secure the transmission -2-  on the transmission jack -3-  .

  6. Remove transmission.

    Loosening sequence: Loosen screws from the bottom up  .

    1. 6.1. First loosen the flange screws -1 and 2-  between the transmission flange and engine and then unscrew them.
    2. 6.2. Loosen and unscrew the remaining flange screws in the following sequence -3, 6 and 5-  and finally loosen and unscrew flange screw -4-  .

    3. 6.3. Gradually guide the transmission out towards the rear and downwards by lowering the transmission jack.
