Removing Rear Wheel Bearing Housing

  1. Remove the drive shaft at the wheel bearing housing.

    Use universal drive shaft/wheel hub extractor as of model '86 Nr.87-1  to carefully press out the pin of the drive shaft until the shaft can be moved by hand.

    1. 1.1. To prevent damage to the drive shaft, slide protective hose over the drive shaft.
  2. The following tasks, "Remove brake shoes, brake disc and actuator for electronic parking brake" are only necessary if the wheel bearing or wheel bearing housing is replaced! 
    1. 2.1. Remove brake disc.

      → 465319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE DISC .

      → WM 465419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR PCCB BRAKE DISC

    2. 2.2. Remove brake shoes on parking brake.
    3. 2.3. Remove actuator for electronic parking brake.

      → 466119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ACTUATOR FOR ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) .

  3. Remove trailing arms, spring strut and connecting link (suspension/stabilizer) or PDCC actuator from the wheel bearing housing.
    1. 3.1. Remove trailing arms -1 and 2-  from the wheel bearing housing.

    2. 3.2. Remove spring strut -1-  from the wheel bearing housing.

    3. 3.3. Remove the upper trailing arms -1-3-4-  , connecting link (suspension/stabilizer) -2-  or PDCC actuator from the wheel bearing housing.

  4. Remove wheel bearing housing. Secure the drive shaft to prevent it from falling down.
