Removing And Installing Front Brake Pads: Notes

Before removing the brake pads, a small amount of brake fluid must generally be removed by suction (from the reservoir). This depends on the brake fluid level and the amount of wear on the brake pads.
Information
- The brake calliper must be removed in order to remove the brake pads. Do not open the brake hydraulic system while doing this!
- This is generally required for brake callipers with two bars.
- Do not loosen the brake-pad guide pins (four pins per brake calliper/two on the inside and two on the outside) as this is not permitted.
- Remove warning contact wire at the brake calliper and expanding spring -arrows-

Loosen the holder -1- for the brake hose/brake line on the wheel carrier.
Remove the brake calliper at the wheel carrier (do not open the brake hydraulic system). To do this, loosen the two fastening screws -2- .
To remove the brake pads, place the brake calliper in a suitable place (e.g. on a hydraulic lift) or secure it in a suitable place using a tie-wrap.
- Pull the brake pads -1- out of the brake-pad guide pins -2- .
- Remove expanding spring on the brake calliper -arrows- .
