Replacing Lower Trailing Arm Bearings
WARNING:
Mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic press
- Risk of squashing
→ Read specific safety information for the press.
→ Check that the press is working perfectly before use, particularly the safety components.
WARNING:
Wheel bearing housing raised incorrectly
- Risk of squashing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
- The pictures shown in this document may differ from the original .
- The pressure pieces and the hollow plunger-type hydraulic press VAS 6178 are used for removal. Screw a table attachment from assembly tool set T10205 into the hydraulic press. Screw a suitable assembly fixture T10230 onto the threaded rod from assembly tool set T10230/14-16 and assembly tool set T10230/50-54 and position the required attachment when pressing bearings out and in.
- Replace bearing -1-
.
Bearing -1- consists of the axle bearing -1- and lock -2- .
- 2.1. Check that the cut-outs are aligned → Alignment of bearing 1 .
- 2.2. Remove lock -1-
using extractor T10230/59
.
- 2.2.1. Fit extractor on the lock -1- .
- 2.2.2. Tighten adjusting screw -2- until the extractor is fitted securely.
- 2.2.3. Tighten adjusting screw -3- to prevent the tool from tilting.
- 2.2.4. Tighten adjusting screw -4- until the lock is loosened completely.
- 2.3. Press out bearing -1-
.
