Installing Outer Side Member

  1. Apply adhesive and sealing foam.

    1. 1.1. Apply adhesive. → Application depth: 3.0 mm 

      Working with body structural adhesive → 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE

    2. 1.2. Apply 2K acoustic body filler foam "AFS Vario"  in -area A-  . → 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY FOAM FILLER
  2. Fit and secure outer side member.

    Check gap dimensions. → WM 5X00IN DIAGRAM - BODY GAP DIMENSIONS

    Information 

    Once the spare parts have been fixed in place, repair spotwelds must be placed exactly on the old spotwelds because there is no current flow possible in areas with a hardened adhesive layer.

  3. Weld in outer side member.
    1. 3.1. Resistance spot-weld outer side member.

    2. 3.2. Apply a full weld to the outer side member in -area A, B, C-  using inert gas.

    3. 3.3. Plug-weld the outer side member using inert gas.
