Removing Spring Strut

NOTE:
Spring strut comes out of the damper tube
- PASM (damping force adjustment) does not function
- Risk of damage to electric lines
→ Protect electric lines when removing and installing the spring strut.
→ Do not lift/transport the spring strut/vibration damper at the electric lines.
→ Do not damage electric lines when transporting, unpacking, storing or disassembling and assembling the spring strut.
- Vehicles with PASM: With ignition switched off, carefully disconnect electric line from the PASM spring strut at the connector and unclip it from the bracket.
- Loosen M10 lock nuts on the spring-strut mount -arrows- (in the vehicle interior).
- Remove anti-roll bar together with the suspension/stabilisers.
To do this, remove the right -1- and left suspension/stabilizer at the wheel carriers and loosen the anti-roll bar at the rear-axle side sections (four M8 screws).
When loosening the suspension/stabilizer (1), counter with a Torx screwdriver.
- Loosen toe control arm -2- at the wheel carrier.
- Remove spring strut/wheel carrier threaded connection -3- and pull spring strut up (over the upper trailing arms) to remove it.
