Adjusting Trim Panel For Targa Bar

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

Information

Set gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the accessories must be centered with respect to the body.
Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. Star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1

Open convertible top as far as required until the trim panel flaps -1- are open.
Loosen fastening screws -2- on the side trim panel -3- .
Loosen fastening nuts -4- on the side trim panel -3- .

Position side trim panel -1- .
1. 4.1. Align trim panel -1- by moving it in the lower area -arrows A- so that it is parallel to the side panel -2- .
2. 4.2. Screw the threaded pins -3- in and out in order to re-position the trim panel -1- in Y direction -arrow Y- .
Fit fastening screws and fastening nuts -4- for the side trim panel -1- .

Loosen fastening screws -1- on the trim panel flap -2- .
Disengage pull/press cables -3- at the ball pin of the trim panel flap -2- .

Position trim panel flap -1- .
1. 8.1. Press trim panel flap -1- down.
2. 8.2. Align trim panel flap -1- by moving it in the lower area -arrows A- until it is parallel to the side trim panel -2- .
3. 8.3. Adjust gap dimension between the side trim panel -2- and trim panel flap -1- . Gap dimension 2 mm +/- 0.8 mm

Open trim panel flap -2- .
Fit fastening screws -1- .
Engage pull/push cables -3- for the trim panel flap -2- .

Close convertible top.
Check gap dimension between the side trim panel and trim panel flap and correct the gap if necessary. Gap dimension 2 mm +/-0.8 mm
Check gap dimension between the Targa bar and glass dome and correct the gap if necessary. Gap dimension 6.3 mm +/-0.5 mm
Check gap dimension between the Targa bar and glass dome and correct the gap if necessary. Gap dimension 6.3 mm +/-0.5 mm
Open convertible top as far as required until the trim panel flaps are open.
Insert center trim panel -1- .
Position center trim panel -1- .
1. 18.1. Guide in the trim panel -1- from the front, center it between the two trim panel flaps -2- and clip it in.
2. 18.2. Open convertible top.
3. 18.3. Adjust gap dimension between the trim panel -1- and trim panel flaps -2- . Gap dimension 3 mm +/-0.8 mm

Close convertible top as far as required until the trim panel flaps -1- are open.
Remove center trim panel.
Tighten fastening screws -2- for the side trim panels -3- to the specified torque.
Tighten fastening nuts -4- for the side trim panels -3- to the specified torque.

Tighten fastening screws -1- for the trim panel flaps -2- to the specified torque.

Position center trim panel -1- .
1. 24.1. Guide in the trim panel -1- from the front, center it between the two trim panel flaps -2- and clip it in.
2. 24.2. Open convertible top.
3. 24.3. Adjust gap dimension between the trim panel -1- and trim panel flaps -2- . Gap dimension 3 mm +/- 0.8 mm
Tighten fastening screws -2- for the center trim panel -1- to the specified torque.
Fit water drain hoses -3- at the center trim panel -1- at the left and right.
