Information:

A different special tool is required because of the different press-in depth.

The crankcase has been modified and for this reason, the press-in depth of the sealing ring has also changed with the changeover from MY D (2013) to MY E (2014).

If the sealing ring needs to be replaced , the existing press-in depth must always be measured before removing the sealing ring:

The depth is measured from the outer edge of the crankcase (-item 2- ) to the surface of the sealing ring (-item 4- ).

As a result, the sealing ring MUST be installed using the relevant special tool , depending on the crankcase used:

Measured depth "-a- " (between sealing ring and crankcase - -items 1 and 2- ):

Press-in depth: > 2.5 mm +/- 0.2 mm

=> corresponds to crankcase used up to MY D (2013).

=> Install sealing ring (Part No. 997.101.212.01) only using special tool:

> 9609 - Insertion tool,
crankcase > 9609/1 - pressure piece and
> 9609/2 - spacer.

Measured depth "-a- " (between sealing ring and crankcase - -items 1 and 2- ):

Press-in depth: > 7.5 mm +/- 0.2 mm

=> corresponds to crankcase used as of MY E (2014).

=> Install sealing ring (Part No. 997.101.212.01) only using special tool:

> 9837 - Insertion tool.

If the sealing ring (-item 1- ) is unintentionally removed without first measuring the existing press-in depth, the depth is measured from the outer edge of the crankcase (-item 2- ) to the end of the fitting bore:

For crankcase as of MY E: Press-in depth to fitting bore > 19mm
For crankcase up to MY D: Press-in depth to fitting bore > 17mm
