Installing Front Drive Shaft

  1. Grease the splines of the drive shaft lightly with Optimoly HT.

    Replace lock nuts.

  2. Carefully guide the drive shaft into the wheel hub from below. Do not damage the drive shaft and adjacent components.
  3. Install front final drive.

  4. Fit drive shafts on the transmission side. Screw in hexagon socket head bolts between the drive shaft and transmission flange and tighten bolts.

    Counter at the wheel to prevent it from turning as well.

    Tightening torque 39 Nm (29 ftlb.)

  5. Install subframe -1-  and tray -5-  for the fuel tank.

    Observe specified tightening torques:

    1. 5.1. M6 hexagon-head bolts -2- Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) 
    2. 5.2. M10 fastening nuts -3-  and M10 screws -4- Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)

  6. Secure the drive shaft at the wheel hub. Use a new lock nut.

    When tightening, get another mechanic to help by operating the brake. Tightening torque 460 Nm (340 ftlb.)
