Lowering And Securing The Engine

→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

Information 

For working in the engine compartment: 

  1. Support the engine at the oil pan using hydraulic garage jack H 2 SL WE 1032  and transmission jack plate of transmission jack V.A.G. 1383 A WE 1082  .
    1. 1.1. Loosen two M12 collar nuts on the engine mount at the left and right only as much as required so that the engine flange is not touching the rear-axle cross member.
    2. 1.2. Slowly lower the engine using the jack.

    Additional work for removing/fitting resonance tube and intake-air distributor on GT3 vehicles in order to lower the engine further: 

  2. Remove engine guard.

    → 108019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE GUARD .

  3. Remove support plate.

    → 421419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SUPPORT PLATE .

  4. Remove cover for rear underbody.

    → 519419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR REAR UNDERBODY .

  5. Remove rear axle carrier.

    → 420619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR-AXLE CROSS MEMBER .

  6. Loosen the anti-roll bar at the rubber mountings -4-  .

    → 429019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR ANTI-ROLL BAR .

    For working under the vehicle: 

  7. Support the engine using the Master Gear unit elevating platform WE 1206  and the special tools specified below.

    1. Master Gear unit elevating platform WE 1206 
    2. Support 9769/1  for Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and 7-speed manual transmission (991)
    3. Support 9769/2  for 6-speed manual transmission (2nd generation 997)
    4. Retainer plate 9769  for engine
    1. 7.1. Mounting points on engine:

    Information 

    • It may only be supported over a large area at the oil pan. 
    • Localized loading is not permitted. 
  8. Or:  Support the engine at the oil pan using transmission jack V.A.G. 1383 A WE 1082  .
  9. Once you have completed the required work, raise the engine to installation position and secure the engine carrier -1-  with two M12 collar nuts -2-  .

    Tightening torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)

  10. GT3 vehicles:  Re-fit rear axle carrier, anti-roll bar, engine guard, support plate and underbody cover if necessary.

    → 429019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR ANTI-ROLL BAR (WITHOUT PDCC) .

    → 420619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR-AXLE CROSS MEMBER .
