Removing Cardan Shaft

Information
- Observe maximum joint angle of 20° during removal and fitting.
- The cardan joint must not be loaded at maximum deflection (lock).
- Support transmission with transmission jack.
For vehicles with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK): Use the entire surface of the ATF pan as the contact surface so as to avoid damaging the ATF pan.
- 1.1. Support transmission.
- Remove transmission bracket and rear brace plate.
- 2.1. Unscrew screws -2- for the rear brace plate -1- and remove plate.
- 2.2. Unscrew screws -3 and 6- on the transmission bracket and remove transmission bracket.
- Secure the transmission to the gear support using transmission mount screw and nut.
- 3.1. Remove transmission jack.
- Remove center brace plate -1-

- 4.1. Loosen control unit at the brace plate.
- 4.2. Unscrew screws -2 and 3- and remove plate.
- Remove cardan shaft.
- 5.1. Close electric parking brake.
- 5.2. Loosen and remove screws -1- on the cardan shaft flange.
- 5.3. Press cardan shaft -1- off using a mounting lever -2- if necessary to remove it from the cardan flange -3- .
- 5.4. Pull cardan shaft out of the splines of the central shaft and remove it.
- Pull bellows -1- off the central shaft.
