Installing Front Silencer

Information 

  1. Fit silencer with the help of an assistant.
    1. 1.1. Connect vacuum lines to the control boxes.
  2. Fit the silencer on the three-hole flange.
    1. 2.1. Fit new metal seals.
    2. 2.2. Fit three-hole flange on the exhaust manifold and position rear silencer strut.
    3. 2.3. Fit new M8 lock nuts -1-  .

    Information 

    • Apply a light coating of high-temperature grease (e.g. Optimoly HT, Part No. 000.043.004.00) on the clamp or pipe adapter before installation. 
  3. Align front silencer -1-  without tension.
    1. 3.1. Slide the restraining straps over the holder on the engine carrier.
    2. 3.2. Screw in M8 cheese head bolts -3-  on the restraining straps and tighten them slightly so that the silencer can still be moved.
    3. 3.3. Position clamps and fit the two M8 hexagon nuts -2-  .

  4. Tighten threaded joints for front silencer.
    1. 4.1. Tighten M8 lock nuts on the three-hole flanges on the exhaust manifold.
    2. 4.2. Tighten M8 collar nuts on the clamps.
    3. 4.3. Tighten M8 cheese head bolts for restraining straps.


Information 

  1. Position front silencer.
  2. Use new seals.
  3. Fit and tighten fastening nuts.

  4. Fit clamp and tighten fastening screw -3 -  .

  5. Fit and tighten fastening screws -1-  .

  6. Further installation is performed in reverse order.
