Removing Center Side Member

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

Information 

Mark cuts B and C  in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 3 cm with respect to the body.

  1. Mark and make cuts. → Distance: 150 mm

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A  through two plate thicknesses.

  2. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .

    Information 

    Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

  3. Mark and make cuts. → Distance: 210 mm → Distance: 20 mm

  4. Remove separated section of plate.
  5. Loosen welded joints.
    1. 5.1. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .
    2. 5.2. Grind down MIG seams.

  6. Loosen welded joints.
    1. 6.1. Drill out spotwelds using spotweld drill Nr.129  .
    2. 6.2. Grind down MIG seams.

  7. Bend up edge of wheel arch.
    1. 7.1. Heat up connection areas using a hot-air gun.
    2. 7.2. Bend up edge of wheel arch.

  9. Remove center side member.
