Removing Wing

Information 

The number of plug connections can vary, depending on equipment.

  1. Remove front profile seal -1-  as far as the lock carrier.

  2. Remove expansion rivet -1-  from the heat protection panel.

    1. 2.1. Push pin through towards the engine compartment.
    2. 2.2. Remove expansion rivet -1-  from the engine compartment side.
  3. Unclip wiring harness -1-  under the headlight mounting point.

    CAUTION: Incorrect triggering of airbag modules.
    • Danger of injury and material damage if airbag sensors are not handled correctly!

    → Remove ignition key. Disconnect battery. Route or isolate ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, seat frame) is avoided.

    → Always wait one minute after disconnecting the battery before disconnecting the connector from the sensor.

    → The airbag sensor must not be removed with the plug plugged in!

    → The airbag sensors cannot be interchanged. Install the sensor listed in the Spare Parts Information (PET).

    → Always replace fastening nuts and bolts of sensors after customer service and reworking.

    → Never make alterations to the micro-encapsulated nuts and bolts which have a negative effect on the bond (e.g. using lubricant, loosening bolts and screwing them down again).

  4. Remove electric plug connection -1-  for airbag sensor.
    1. 4.1. Release electric plug connection -1-  . -a- 
    2. 4.2. Pull off electric plug connection -1-  . -A

  5. Release electric plug connection -1-  (-a-  ) and pull it off the side direction indicator light. -A

  6. Remove hose -1-  for headlight ventilation.
    1. 6.1. Unclip hose -1-  for headlight ventilation at the retaining bracket.
    2. 6.2. Release locking mechanism on grommet at the air grille -a-  and remove grommet. -B- 
    3. 6.3. Remove hose.

  7. Remove retaining strip.
    1. 7.1. Puncture and remove expansion rivets using a suitable tool.
    2. 7.2. Remove retaining strip -1-  .

  8. Unscrew and remove lower fastening screws -1-  for the door sill.

  9. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1-  for the A-pillar.

  10. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1-  under the headlight mounting point.

  11. Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1-  for lock carrier.

    1. 11.1. Dispose of fastening screw -1-  and use a new screw during installation.
  12. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1-  .

  13. Remove the wing.
    1. 13.1. Remove the wing carefully since the splash guard for the door area is still fitted.
