Removing Front Backrest Frame

Loosen the two restraining straps on the rear of the seat -arrows- .

Loosen cover on the lower backrest frame using a plastic wedge -arrows- .

Information

Make sure not to trap or damage the wire harness when removing it.

Information
- The number of connectors and tie-wraps can vary, depending on seat equipment.
- Plug in or out all connectors going to the backrest.
- Cut and replace all tie-wraps used to secure the wire harness to the backrest.
Cut tie-wraps on the wiring harness and disconnect connectors.
1. 3.1. Cut the two tie-wraps -1- and -2- ahead of the plug connections using side cutters.

2. 3.2. Cut the tie-wrap -1- after the plug connections using side cutters.

3. 3.3. Disconnect plug connections under the seat frame -1 to 5- .

4. 3.4. Cut tie-wrap -1- on the control unit connector using side cutters.

5. 3.5. Lift up the locking mechanism -1- for the connector -2- on the control unit using a screwdriver -A- and release it using the locking lug -3- (-B- ).

6. 3.6. Remove the split cable conduit -1- and expose the wire harness -2- as far as the cable sheathing.

7. 3.7. Remove cable sheathing -1- .

8. 3.8. Remove tie-wrap -2- on the connector socket -1- .
9. 3.9. Release the two single connectors -3- (-A- ) and remove them from the connector socket -1- (-B- ).
Information

Two people are needed in order to remove and install the backrest frame.
Unscrew fastening screws -1- and lift backrest frame -2- up slightly -arrow- .

Secure the backrest in upright position and push outer side of seat cushion inwards -A- .
Guide wire harnesses up -B- and out of the seat frame.
Remove backrest frame with wire harnesses.
