Electric Parking Brake Calibration

Vehicle Type: Panamera (970)/Cayenne (92A) and Sport Cars (9x1) 

Model Year: 2010 and up 

Concern: Electric Parking Brake is difficult to calibrate 

Information: The following steps must be completed in order to successfully calibrate the Electric Parking Brake:

  1. Select Parking brake  from the Overview 
  2. Select Drive links > Move to installation position 
  3. Select Maintenance repairs > Check basic setting 

    Adjust the parking brake shoes on the vehicle to the values specified on the tester. Repeat steps  2 and  3 to verify any adjustments made. After the basic setting is within specification, continue with step 4.

  4. Select Maintenance repairs > Loop in  (Grind in)
  5. Select Maintenance repairs > Calibration 
  6. Cycle the ignition and then clear faults

Troubleshooting:

  1. The message "Actuators faulty"  may occur during Check basic setting when:
    • Move to installation position  is not first performed.
    • The parking brakes are not adjusted correctly. Adjust the parking brakes to specification shown during Maintenance repairs > Check basic setting.  You may also use Actual values > Air gap for last clamping operation  to verify the last air gap.

    9X1: 2.2mm Tolerance: +.4mm/-.3mm

    92A: 2.2mm Tolerance: +.2mm/-.3mm

    970: 2.0mm Tolerance: +.2mm/-.3mm

  2. The calibration procedure will return an error if the parking brakes are not adjusted properly or if the Loop in (Grind in) procedure is not completed in the order listed above.
  3. The fault 000018 Calibration may not clear until the key is cycled.
