Subsequent Work

Information 

  1. Fit rear wheels. Socket-wrench insert 300  should be used.

    → 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL .

  2. Secure the drive shafts on the transmission flange. Get another person to counter at the rear wheels.

    → Installing Drive Shaft .

  3. Fit oxygen sensor plug connections at the left and right in the engine compartment, route the lines and secure them at the retaining points.

    → Installing Oxygen Sensor Upstream Of Catalytic Converter .

    → Installing Oxygen Sensor Downstream Of Catalytic Converter .

  4. Fill in coolant.

    → Filling Coolant193817 Draining And Filling Coolant .

    1. 4.1. Check all connections on the cooling system that were opened during removal for leaks.
  5. Install side retaining frame (heat protection) for the rear apron.

    → 261519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING RETAINING FRAME WITH HEAT PROTECTION .

  6. Install rear apron.

  7. Connect the battery.

    → WM 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY

  8. Only for vehicles with PDCC:  Fill in Pentosin at the hydraulic reservoir, check the fluid level and top up if necessary.

    → 430501 CHECKING FLUID LEVEL (PDCC) .

    Information 

    • Only for vehicles with PDCC: After installing a replacement engine, pressure must be applied to the PDCC pump via the reservoir. 
  9. Only for vehicles with PDCC:  Apply pressure to the pump via the reservoir.

    → 430307 BLEEDING THE PDCC SYSTEM .

  10. Install air cleaner housing.

    → Installing air cleaner housing .

  11. Install rear spoiler.

  12. Fit engine-compartment blower.

    → Installing Engine-Compartment Blower .

  13. Install air guide.

    → Installing Air Guide In Wheel Housing .

  14. Fit all covers.
  15. Check engine-oil level and top up with new engine oil if necessary.

    → 170101 CHECKING ENGINE-OIL LEVEL .

  16. Bleed the cooling system according to specifications using PIWIS Tester II 9818  .

    → 190107 BLEEDING THE COOLING SYSTEM .

  17. On Cabriolet vehicles: Install support plate. 

    → 421419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SUPPORT PLATE .

  18. Install underbody cover.

    → Installing Cover For Centre Underbody .

    → 519419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR REAR UNDERBODY .

  19. Remove protective covers.
