Installing Drive Shaft

Check the drive shaft.
Check the following before installation:

Check inner/outer bellows and replace if necessary.

→ 422855 REPLACING DRIVE SHAFT BELLOWS

Grease the drive shaft toothing with Optimoly HT.
Insert drive shaft into the wheel carrier and fit it at the transmission flange.
Install toe control arm and rear trailing arm.
1. 3.1. Fit rear trailing arm and toe control arm on the wheel carrier and screw on and tighten fastening nuts.
  Fastening nut on rear trailing arm: Tightening torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)
  
  Fastening screw on rear trailing arm (GT4): Tightening torque 120 Nm (89 ftlb.)
  
  Fastening nut on toe control arm. Tightening torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)
Fit connecting link -2- on the anti-roll bar and screw on and tighten fastening nut -1- .
Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.) Final tightening +30°

Screw in fastening screws securing drive shaft to transmission flange and tighten to Tightening torque 80 Nm .

Install rear brake calliper with line bracket.
Information
- Replace brake calliper fastening screws each time they are removed .
1. 6.1. Fit brake calliper together with the holder and screw in and tighten new brake calliper fastening screws -arrows- .
  Tightening torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)

2. 6.2. Screw in and tighten fastening screws -6- securing holder to wheel carrier. Tightening torque 10 Nm

3. 6.3. Plug in and lock electric plug connection on the RPM sensor -3- .
4. 6.4. Plug in and lock electric plug connection for PASM -4- and clip in cable retainer -5- at the holder -7- .
5. 6.5. Plug in and lock electric plug connection for electric parking brake (EPB) -1- and clip the line into the cable retainer -2- .
Only for GT4 vehicles:
Install brake air spoiler.

Brake air spoiler to trailing arm: Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
