Removing Steering Wheel

Information 

Immediately after unscrewing the fastening screw and before  removing the steering wheel, it is essential to mark the position of the steering wheel and steering column -2-  .

During re-installation, this ensures that the steering wheel as well as the airbag spring are fitted back in the same position on the steering column.

  1. Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.

    Information 

    • Always release and disconnect the plug connections for steering wheel heater cables and airbag cables before removing the steering wheel. 
  2. If the vehicle has a heated steering wheel: Release plug connection for heated steering wheel -1-  and pull it off.

  3. Release and pull off plug connection for airbag wiring harness -2-  .
  4. Unscrew fastening screw -1-  using the polygon wrench insert Nr.32  .

  5. Mark position of steering wheel.
  6. Remove steering wheel.
