Replacing Rear Anti-Roll Bar

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2019 Porsche 911, 2018 Porsche 911, 2017 Porsche 911, 2016 Porsche 911, and 2015 Porsche 911. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove rear anti-roll bar (anti-roll bar assembly with clamps and anti-roll-bar mount).

    → 429019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR ANTI-ROLL BAR (WITH PDCC) .

  2. Remove anti-roll-bar mount and clamps from the anti-roll bar. 

    Check the following while doing this:

    1. 2.1. Mark the position of the anti-roll-bar mount on the anti-roll bar. Apply the same markings (for both anti-roll-bar mounts) onto the new anti-roll bar.

    2. 2.2. Loosen anti-roll-bar mount and clamps from the anti-roll bar.
    3. 2.3. Check anti-roll-bar mount for damage (e.g. cracks) and replace if necessary.
  3. Fitting anti-roll-bar mount and clamps to anti-roll bar 
    1. 3.1. Place anti-roll-bar mount against anti-roll bar as per the markings.

    2. 3.2. Position anti-roll-bar clamps on the anti-roll-bar mounts.

      Fit anti-roll bar with anti-roll-bar-mounts and clamps -1-  on the rear axle cross member.

      To do so, use suitably long screws -2- (approx. 20 millimetres longer than standard screws)  .

      Get a second mechanic to help perform this step.

    3. 3.3. Tighten screws uniformly. Make sure that the anti-roll-bar mount is not twisted.

      The opening of the anti-roll-bar mount -arrow-  must rest against the rear axle cross member.

    4. 3.4. Once the anti-roll bar clamp is in contact with the rear axle cross member, carefully loosen the screws. Make sure that the anti-roll-bar mount does not slip out of the clamp while loosening the screws.
    5. 3.5. Repeat steps on the other side (fit the second mount).
  4. Install complete anti-roll bar (with anti-roll-bar mount and clamps) using the standard screws.

    1. 4.1. Screw two anti-roll bar clamps -1 and 2-  to the rear axle cross member (using standard screws).

      Tighten screws -3-  to Tightening torque 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)  .

      Tools: Open-end/ring wrench insert Nr.98-1 Pos.1  .

    2. 4.2. Fit the PDCC actuator to the anti-roll bar on both sides of the vehicle. Use new collar nuts.

      Initial tightening 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) Final tightening +50°  .
