Disassembling Rear Spring Strut

Risk of squashing or bruising

→ Do not reach into the danger area.

→ Relieve the tension on components before starting work.

→ Secure components to prevent them from loosening suddenly.

Information

Protect electric lines when removing and installing the spring strut.
Do not lift/transport the spring strut/vibration damper at the electric lines.
Do not damage electric lines when transporting, unpacking, storing or disassembling and assembling the spring strut.
Sort and mark individual components of the spring strut before setting them down.
Using the spring compressor - Always make sure that the spring compressor is seated and fitted correctly on the spring! Danger of injury.

Pre-tension coil spring using spring clamp for spring struts Nr.121 until the piston rod is relieved. The appropriate forks must be inserted into the spring clamp.

To loosen the connection (piston rod to spring-strut mount), counter at the piston rod using a 9-mm open-ended wrench.
On PASM spring struts, use a suitable socket-wrench insert, e.g. socket-wrench insert Nr.18 .

Remove all parts from the piston rod.
