Installing The Rear-Axle Carrier Side Section

Replace the fastening screws that are tightened to a torque angle.

Replace lock nuts.

  1. Replace the stud in the body for mounting the rear-axle carrier side section.

    → Tightening torque: 30 Nm 

  2. Install the rear-axle carrier side section.

    1. 2.1. Guide in the rear-axle carrier side section -1-  .
    2. 2.2. Position the rear-axle trailing arm in the rear-axle carrier side section -1-  .
    3. 2.3. Insert the new inner fastening screws for the upper rear-axle trailing arm on the rear-axle carrier side section -1-  .
    4. 2.4. Place the rear-axle carrier side section -1-  in the installation position.
    5. 2.5. Screw in both new fastening screws -2-  on the rear-axle carrier side section to the specified tightening torque and torque angle.

      → Tightening torque: 90 Nm+ 90° 

    6. 2.6. Tighten the new fastening nuts -3-  on the rear-axle carrier side section to the specified tightening torque and torque angle.

      → Tightening torque: 90 Nm+ 90° 

  3. Secure the upper inner rear-axle trailing arm.

    1. 3.1. Tighten the new  inner fastening nuts -1-  on the upper rear and middle rear-axle trailing arms.

      Tightening is carried out in the vehicle's zero position (0 position).

    2. 3.2. Tighten the fastening nut -2-  on the upper front rear-axle trailing arm.

      Tightening is carried out in the vehicle's zero position (0 position).

    3. 3.3. Move the wheel suspension into zero position (0 position). To do this, move the wheel carrier upwards using lifting equipment -1-  until the lower trailing arm -2-  is horizontal to the vehicle floor (0 position).

    4. 3.4. Tighten the inner fastening nuts on the upper rear and middle rear-axle trailing arms at the specified tightening torque and torque angle.

      → Tightening torque: 90 Nm+ 90° 

      → Tightening torque: 90 Nm+ 90° 

    5. 3.5. Position the eccentric (for toe adjustment) -1-  in line with the marking -2-  . Tighten the new lock nut to the specified torque at this eccentric position.

      → Tightening torque: 100 Nm

  4. Secure the self-levelling sensor (height sensor).

    1. 4.1. Place the self-levelling sensor holder in the installation position.
    2. 4.2. Screw in the fastening screw -1-  for the self-levelling sensor holder to the specified tightening torque.

      → Tightening torque: 3.4 Nm 

    3. 4.3. Clip the self-levelling sensor holder to the rear-axle trailing arm -A-  .

      Ensure that the holder is between both moldings on the front of the rear-axle trailing arm.
