Installing Rear Brake Disc
Do not confuse right and left brake discs during assembly!
Distinguishing feature: Part number. The flat surface of the brake discs is marked with R = right or L = left.
- Prepare for installing the brake disc.
- 1.1. Check that all parts are in perfect condition (visual inspection) and replace them if necessary.
- 1.2. Clean the flat and centering surfaces on the brake disc and wheel hub.
- 1.3. Apply a very thin coat of Optimoly TA (aluminum paste) to the centering surface on the wheel hub.
- Fit the brake disc. Tighten the screws -arrows-

Tightening torque for securing brake disc to wheel hub Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) .
Information
- Replace brake calliper fastening screws each time they are removed .
- Fit the brake calliper in reverse order to removal.
Tightening torque for securing brake calliper to wheel carrier Tightening torque 85 Nm (63 ftlb.) .
Information
- When replacing the brake discs and/or brake shoes, it is necessary to grind down the brake shoes for the electronic parking brake (EPB). The routine is started using PIWIS Tester II. → 468350 GRINDING DOWN PARKING-BRAKE SHOES .
- Grinding down applies only to grey cast-iron brakes with one-piece brake discs .
- Grinding of grey cast-iron brakes on the Cayman GT4 (981) is not permitted because compound brake discs with aluminum brake disc hubs are installed .
- Grinding of PCCB brake discs/brake shoes is not permitted .

must now be connected and started.
- 4.1. Rework the parking-brake shoes.
- 4.2. Adjust and calibrate the parking-brake shoes.
- Position disc brake pads by pressing the brake pedal several times.
- Check the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary.
The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX markings → Min/Max markings for brake fluid .
