Preliminary Work

  1. Raise the vehicle → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE .

    The next steps must ideally be carried out in parallel.

  2. Remove wheel bearing housing, spreader device (EPB actuator) and brake cover plate. → 425219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WHEEL BEARING HOUSING  → 468519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPREADER DEVICE (EPB ACTUATOR)
    1. 2.1. Loosen axle nut (drive shaft mounting on wheel side). Operate the brake when doing this (a second mechanic is required).
    2. 2.2. Remove spreader device, brake cover plate and then the wheel bearing housing.
