Adjusting Front Lid Gap Dimensions
Information
- Set gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the accessories must be centered with respect to the body.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
- Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. Star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1
- Check the gap dimensions.
- Loosen fastening nuts -1- on the upper part of the lid lock so that the upper part of the lid lock can still be moved.
- Adjust gaps on front lid.
- 3.1. Loosen fastening nuts on the front lid -2- at both sides so that the lid can still be moved.
- 3.2. Close the lid.
- 3.3. By moving the front lid at the hinges, adjust the contours with respect to the wings, headlights and front apron.
- Front apron to front lid (B1). Gap dimension 3.5 mm +/-0.5 mm
- Front apron to front lid (B2). Gap dimension -1 mm +/-0.5 mm
- Lid to wing (K1). Gap dimension 3.5 mm +/-0.8 mm
- Lid to wing (K2). Gap dimension -0.5 mm +/-0.5 mm
- 3.4. Tighten fastening nut -1- Tightening torque 20 Nm on front lid.
- Close the front lid and check the setting. If the setting does not match the required values, the steps must be repeated.
- Tighten fastening nuts -1- Tightening torque 9.7 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) on upper part of lid lock.
- Check position of front edge of lid with respect to the front apron.
- 6.1. Change the inclination, gap dimension and height of the front edge of the lid by setting the adjusting elements. The adjusting elements must allow slight preload on the front lid when it is closed.
- Check the height adjustment and change it if necessary.
