Installing Rear Muffler

Information 

• Replace clamping sleeve, seal and lock nuts. Apply a light coating of high-temperature grease on the sleeve before installation to facilitate fitting. 

1. Fit new suspension rubbers or holders if necessary.
2. Fit new exhaust clamp onto exhaust pipe.
3. Lift rear muffler into installation position with the help of a second mechanic. Tighten both fastening screws -1-  to the specified tightening torque. > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

4. Move exhaust clamp (clamping sleeve) into installation position and fit it. The threaded joint must be pointing downwards. Adjust to maximum inclination and ensure the assembly length is the same on both exhaust pipes. > Installation position of exhaust clamp  > Adjustment value 10°  > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

   1	Gap of approx. 5 mm between the exhaust pipes
   2	Exhaust clamp length = 95 mm
   3	Maximum inclination > Adjustment value 10°

5. Install connecting strut between rear mufflers. -3-  or -3-  > Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

   5	Flap system vacuum unit (Turbo and Sport)

6. In the case of a flap exhaust system (with vacuum units), connect vacuum hose to the flap actuation vacuum unit.
